Daily hydration is vital for healthy skin, but many of us often neglect this step in our routine.

What hydrating products should you use:
Regular use of creams and moisturizers should be part of any good skincare regimen, but depending on your skin type, some products will work better than others. The key times to remember to use moisturizer are after bathing, shaving, or exfoliating. Hydration after a shower is very important because hot water strips away the natural lipid barrier from your skin, leaving it feeling dry and uncomfortable. Hydration helps skin stay young
The skin on the face, ears, neck, and chest is very sensitive to environmental changes and these are the most common areas of the body known to develop skin cancer. These areas of the skin shed cells faster than other parts of the body and therefore need more hydration to recover. Also, the massaging movements when applying the cream stimulate blood circulation and the generation of a new generation of cells.
Hydration also reduces skin problems caused by excessive dryness of the skin or by external factors such as soaps, disinfectants, and any washing products. Using moisturizing products every day can reduce the chance of painful dryness, flaking, and even excessive oiliness. Both extremes are harmful to the skin and cause common skin conditions such as acne.
One of the most common myths is that oily skin does not need hydration. However, moisturizer is a must-have part of your routine, especially when you’re treating acne, excessive oiliness, blackheads and whiteheads, and pimples. Anti-acne products have a drying effect and irritation, flaking, tightness, and itching are very common. The skin tries to compensate for the moisture and as a result, there is an overproduction of sebum, i.e. even oilier skin. Therefore, as strange as it may seem at first glance, hydration is as important for oily skin as it is for dry and sensitive skin.
Using a moisturizer for dry skin also has a purely aesthetic effect, concealing minor blemishes on the skin. This is because hydration gives the skin a glow, and in combination with tinted products and self-tanners, the complexion is evened out.
A few tips to keep your skin’s natural glow:
- Be careful with the water temperature. Hot showers and baths are not good for your skin in excessive doses. Take a shorter shower with warm, but not hot, water. You will feel and see an instant difference in your skin.
- Do not rub, dry. After showering, gently blot the moisture from your skin with a towel instead of scrubbing. This way it will hold more moisture which you will seal in when you apply the hydrating product.
- Drink more water. The moisture your skin receives comes mainly from your own body. This is another reason to drink at least two liters of water every day!
- Use mild soaps and detergents. Soaps and shampoos that contain alcohol or SLS strip your skin of its natural oils. Look for a mild fragrance-free cleanser that contains glycerin and vitamins.
- Don’t forget about the skin of your hands in the summer too. The hands reflect the effects of the dry environment more than any other part of the body. Apply hand cream after every hand wash especially if you use hand sanitizer frequently.
- Apply sunscreen when outdoors. Nothing will protect your skin from harmful UV rays like a good sunscreen. Look for products with a high SPF to protect your skin from the effects of photoaging.
- Apply lip balm regularly. Frequent use of balm helps with dry and chapped lips, even in summer. Dermatologists recommend using one with an SPF of at least 30. This can help reduce signs of aging and skin cancer on the lips.
